How to Dress Up Workout Clothes for Every Day or a Night Out
Styling Workout Dresses, Tennis Skirts, and Leggings
Fashion, in my opinion, is about what makes you feel sexy and comfortable. The colors you choose to wear can enhance or dull your look. The style and cuts of shirts, pants, dresses, and skirts can slim you down or make you look thicker. For those reasons, I don’t follow trends. I wear clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in, while still feeling confident in my look.
I live in workout clothes because of my job as a personal trainer. My shoulders are muscular and wide so halters look best on me. My waistline is small, and my hips are wide, giving me an hourglass shape. I feel best in form-fitted clothes that show off the assets I work hard for. Yet, the big-butt trend isn’t my style. Instead, I wear yoga pants with seams that make my glutes look smaller. Since workout clothes are my comfort zone, I have gotten creative over the years teaching myself how to dress them up for a night out on the town.
So, if you’re like me and live in workout outfits, I break down how I dress up my activewear from day to night.
Workout Dresses and Tennis Skirts

I love wearing tennis skirts and dresses. There’s nothing wrong with wearing a tennis skirt and dressing it up with a nice shirt and heels. I have created many cute outfits using tennis skirts. The bonus is if it’s windy and your skirt blows up in the air, you have built-in tight spandex-like shorts. Additionally, most tennis dresses have built-in bra padding to give you support. Just wear heels or wedges and add beautiful jewelry to complete the outfit.
Yoga Pants
Yoga pants are easy to dress up. They are not much different than tight black pants, except that yoga pants are extremely comfortable. Throw on a nice dress shirt, or a crop top, with a long cardigan. Add boots or heels, a purse, and jewelry to create a night out or day outfit. Simple, comfortable, and affordable. You’re essentially getting double the use of your workout clothes!
Finding your own style can be fun. It shows your creativity and true personality. I dare you to go out of your comfort zone and try something new in fashion. Don’t be afraid of what others think about you, walk confidently with your head up. Maybe you will be the one to start the new trend?
